Jessica’s mother, Debra A. Masters, is a member at Mariano’s 950 (#526) in Shorewood, IL. Jessica was the recipient of the Overall Excellence award and received a $4,000 scholarship. Jessica currently attends Missouri State University and is studying Art Education.

$1,000 award

Bryce and his father, Rob Munsie are both members at Strack & Van Til’s in St John, IN. Bryce was the recipient of the Indiana award and received a $1,000 scholarship. In the fall, Bryce will attend Purdue University Northwest and plans to study
Psychology.

Emily is a member at Jewel 1127 (#3495) in Bensenville, IL. Emily was the recipient of the Northern Illinois award and received a $1,000 scholarship. Emily currently attends University of Illinois, Chicago and is studying Criminology, Anthropology and Italian.

Blake is a member at Kroger in Harrisburg, IL. Blake was the recipient of the Southern Illinois award and received a $1,000 scholarship. In the fall, Blake will attend the University of Alabama and plans to major in Psychology and minor in Political Science.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Local 881 members AND their dependent children are eligible for several annual scholarships and education programs. Eligibility, deadlines, and amounts vary.

LOCAL 881 CHARITABLE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Local 881 Charitable Scholarship is exclusively for Local 881 members and their dependant children. These one-time awards with amounts ranging from $1,000-$4,000 are available for students entering college, trade school, or graduate programs. The deadline for the 2021 awards has already passed, but the 2022 application will be made available in the fall.

UFCW INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The UFCW Charity Foundation awards several scholarships of up to $8,000 each to UFCW members or their unmarried dependents under the age of 20. https://ufcwcharityfoundation.org/scholarship/

UNION PLUS SCHOLARSHIP

The Union Plus Scholarship Program awards scholarships based on outstanding academic achievement, personal character, financial need, and commitment to the values of organized labor. The program is offered through the Union Plus Education Foundation. The program is open to Local 881 members, their spouses, and dependent children. Union Plus Scholarship awards are granted to students attending a two-year college, four-year college, graduate school, or recognized technical or trade school. Each year, the application deadline is January 31 and the chosen scholarship recipients’ are notified by mail on May 31.

CHICAGO FEDERATION OF LABOR SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, the Chicago Federation of Labor awards (10) William A. Lee Memorial Scholarships to high school seniors in the Chicagoland area in both a Random Drawing and Academic Competition.
The scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States. Both Local 881 members and their dependent children are eligible.
