Local 881 believes those who receive support from organized labor should return any political contribution from the Walmart Corporation. Elected officials who truly stand with the needs of working families should stand firm in their principles and reject political funds from a corporation which directly hurts the well-being and lowers standards for all working men and women.
During the 2008 Semi-Annual Report period, Local 881 reviewed campaign disclosure reports for political committees. We are proud to report that the following political committees donated their Walmart contributions to charity:
-
Friends of Skip Saviano (Lymphoma & Leukemia Society)
-
Citizens for Mattie Hunter (Church of the Spirit)
-
Friends of Monique Davis (Brainers Development Corporation)
-
Citizens for Moffit (Knoxville Food Pantry and Irish Food Pantry)
Thank you for standing with working families and donating the Walmart contribution to worthy causes!
The following committees accepted political contributions from Walmart in 2009:
-
Citizens to Elect Eddie Washington ($250)
-
Committee to Elect Rickey Hendon ($500)
