2009 Scholarship Winner Named Student Ambassador for United Nations Agency
Nicole Paprocki, Osco 1128 (#3428)—Evanston, IL, recently received the Americans for UNFPA Student Award for the Health and Dignity of Women. As part of the award, she also serves as the UNFPA Student Ambassador for a one-year period. UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is the agency of the United Nations that promotes women’s health and gender equality in 180 countries worldwide.
Under the program, she has traveled to Bangladesh to work with the 2009 International Honorees for the Health and Dignity of Women on a women’s health program. Only one American student is selected for this opportunity annually. While abroad, Nicole is making a documentary about the lives of women in other countries to spread awareness of global women’s rights and health issues.
